Knights continue winning ways
After a rocky 3-8 start to the 2009 season, the Knights have found the right pieces to the puzzle and looked to continue the winning streak on Sunday against the Lindenhurst Astros. In the first game of the double header new Knight, Jay Newham, took the ball for his normal 7 innings. In his first outing as a Knight, Jay went 8 solid innings but the defense couldn't pick him up as 3 errors lead to 6 unearned runs in the 7th and ninth innings. This week proved to be better as Jay went 6 2/3 very solid innings and pat Baker came in to save the game as the defense once again seemed to be letting Jay down - note to the manager: have Jay wear a disguise in the 7th inning so the defense doesn't realize he's still in there!

Rob Maier took the mound for game 2 and the bats truly came to life. Jay Martino continued his hot hitting going 4 for 4 in the second game and 6 for 7 on the day. Pat Tartaro also had a day at the plate going 5 for 7 on the day with a home run and 6 rbi. Rob pitched around some trouble in the early innings as the defense though Jay was still on the mound, but was able to cruise once the knights jumped out to a 4 run lead before winning with a final score of 10-6.
